When you think of time management, what comes to mind? Do you picture the calendar on your fridge with everyone’s schedules neatly written in? …or is it the special reminder alert on your smart phone that comes to mind?

Do you think of your friend who’s always late to events? …or the colleague never holds up his end of the project because he can’t seem to handle all his responsibilities?

What about the person that’s always on time but whose schedule is so tightly packed that there isn’t room for even a message to fit? Or, the family member who seems to only make time for texting, Twittering, and Facebooking?

Even if you’ve got it together most times, everyone needs time away from computers, TV, phones, and even those “oh so cool” gadgets. Yes, you must press the pause button your love affair with your iPad and spend time with real flesh and blood people. Or, simply just spend time getting more acquainted with your own company and the notion of resting.

Enter the Sabbath Manifesto app.

Created by the Jewish non-profit, Reboot, it taps you on the shoulder – regardless of your faith – and gently nudges you to disconnect so that you can spend time with human beings and perhaps a canine or feline (or reptile or rodent or whatever pet you’ve got).

The app is available for BlackBerry, Android and iPhone users. Once it’s set up, your Facebook and Twitter accounts will deliver a message telling your peeps that you’re having a bit non-tech down time.

“The Sabbath Manifesto’s principles were created for individual styling, but for one day we asked you to take on the challenge of Principle Number 1: AVOID TECHNOLOGY.”

Have you noticed the twist? This is *technology* that reminds you to disconnect from *technology.* Interesting, yes? It doesn’t get any better than that.

But, it does. The Sabbath Manifesto was created to help people participate in theNational Day of Unplugging, which was scheduled this year on March 4th through 5th. You can also sign up to get a text reminder every Friday…and you can text your friends to let them know you’re shutting down for a bit. Hmmm…texting to say that you won’t be texting for a while. More irony. ;)

What do you think? Do you or someone you know need an app to help you remember that you need to disengage from your tech and make nice with the people in your life?
