    The study makes some good points, however I think we need to take a different approach when talking about “gaining back” production as “cost savings”. Most employers are not saving money either way in this scenario. Are they going to only work their employees for 4 hours a day? Nope. RoE and 4Hr Work Weeks are too ahead of their time, 99% of us aren’t responsible enough in this country to handle those concepts. This study is essentially a testimonial of how much we, collectively, are apathetic and disengaged in the workplace; from the guy mopping the floors all the way up to the ceo. Everyone is just there for a paycheck. Maslow would be disappointed that his model didn’t scale. ;-)

    @doyourworknet:twitter I think you have to take all studies with a grain of salt. They are a glimpse of what is true at that moment for that group of people. There’s value to the results but perspective and context is key.

    That said, this study just might make us look at our own companies or practices a little closer. That can’t be a bad thing, can it? …especially if the goal is to continually improve and become more productive and efficient.
