Greetings readers, I hope your weekend was well. For those of you that celebrate Easter, I hope it was a joyous one.
A question came to me today and what spawned it was a recent acquisition of mine – a new Blackberry Tour. If you’ve read my recent posts, you know that I use it manage my time and tasks. Herein lies the question – Can using the Blackberry (with all its great apps) be a time waster or a time saver? A related question came to mind as well – Can you really save time?
Literally you can’t. There’s a saying that goes something like this: “We all get the same amount of time each day: 24 hours.” I believe this to be a true statement and submit to you that time can’t be saved, but only managed (contrary to that first line of the popular Jim Croce song, “Time In A Bottle”).
Back to the first question. It can be (and has been) applied to all tech and the internet as a whole. Some see tech as a great tool of productivity, while others differ. I came across a blog post by a good friend who sang the praises of going back to a paper planner and pretty much forgoing the use of technology to manage time and tasks.
I found it to be interesting in that the paper planner obviously comes without all the bells and whistles and shiny apps that our smartphones and computers can use. I keep my Blackberry apps limited to Google Sync, GMail, Flickr, Notepad, Tasks, Camera, Blackberry Messenger, web browser…and three Twitter apps (one for each account). It’s Ubertwitter and BBM that might lead to some time wasting. :-)
Your thoughts?
Have a great day!
