I was in the sitting area at Great Clips today with my youngest son, waiting to get his curly, mop-top cut, and while he was playing ever so contently, I picked up the magazine next to me. It was Disney’s Family Fun magazine. I have read this magazine in the past, and have always found it to be a great read for moms (and dads). There really are some super ideas in there! I turned to the section on Easter and found a very clever idea worth sharing..
If you have young children and celebrate Easter, you probably know first hand about dying Easter eggs. It’s fun for the kids, and a tradition you do every year, but seriously, whoever invented the idea of children handling such delicate objects, and mixing them with dyed liquid, clearly was not thinking logically. Yes, the eggs are cooked when you dye them, but they are still breakable. Let’s be real, as gentle as you tell the child to be, they are dropping them into a cup of dye – the odds aren’t in their favor, or yours.
Enter the Egg Wisk. Fitting name, don’t ya think? If you take your hard boiled egg and put it inside the wisk, it serves as a shield. The egg will not fall out, and the child can easily handle the egg with less cracking, and dip and remove the egg into and out of the cup of dye, with far less chance of it falling, or breaking. Now that is something to get egg-cited about! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist!)
I just have to note that after reading about this, I did come home and grab my relatively dated wisk to see for myself. I took an egg from the fridge and placed it in, as I realized, this tip ONLY works on wisks that are maintained in their original shape. Because my wisk is kept in my “not used very often, gadget collecting, I didn’t even know I had that, and I am not even sure what THAT is”, drawer, the metal beater had, over time, become misshapen. My uncooked egg fell out! Needless to say, I will be shopping for two new wisks for my kids, and cleaning out that nightmare of a drawer THIS WEEK!
Give it a try and let me know how it works!
