Pixily Makes Nice With Scan Digital

We really think Pixily is great around here and we gave away 3 months of the service back in July.  We also really like the friendship between Pixily and Evernote, and now it turns out that they’re starting a new relationship with ScanDigital. So, what’s the big deal?  Check out my quick chat with Pixily’s VP of Marketing, Healy Jones, to find out.

OTR: How did this new partnership with Scan Digital  come about?

HJ: We realize that many people are abandoning their physical documents and send them to us to digitize them, but they seem really hold on to their photos.  Scan Digital is very efficient at photo scanning and so this makes for a good partnership.

OTR: Don’t people get worried that their documents and photos may get lost?

HJ: We use UPS to collect large volumes of documents which means there’s a a way to track all shipments (with a tracking code).  UPS is very responsive and we’ve had great success with using them – and no problems.  We also offer a free trial for people to test out the service.  Usually, they send documents they don’t care that much about to test it out. ScanDigital also uses UPS as well as their EssentialTracker system to ensure the safety of all photos.

OTR: I can see why an individual or small business would want to use Pixily, but why would a company need ScanDigital?

HJ: We get lots of requests from employers who want to give their employees access only to certain files.  They can create and share a folder with them and restrict other information.  This is more secure than sending an e-mail which would be appealing to attorneys and accountants. Still, there are lots of small businesses that are high paper users and that also rely on photos on a regular basis.  For example, insurance adjusters would accumulate lots of documents and pictures.

OTR: Are the photos searchable?

HJ: You can upload your digital photos directly and if there is a clean shot of the text, the text will be searchable. ScanDigital can scan and edit photos, negatives, and slides, and they use only highly trained professionals to process orders.

OTR: Ok, here’s a fun question.  Have you gotten any odd document scanning requests at Pixily?

HJ: Someone once sent us a pen.  We scanned it and sent it back.
